Legal Operations Director
Mikaela earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Finance from USC and her primary role is to make sure the firm functions smoothly and effectively. She has been with Cerritos Legal Services for almost fifteen years and as a result, she is extremely knowledgeable about how the firm functions, from the bottom level and up. She started as a case manager and was on her way to attending law school at Hofstra University in New York when a critical family emergency called for her to table those plans. Meanwhile, Mikaela tapped into the business acumen and experience she gained while doing consulting work at PricewaterhouseCoopers in DTLA and used it to help improve upon the existing processes used in the firm. Chief among her contributions were spearheading the firm’s successful implementation and use of information technology in its operations: customizing software for case management purposes and establishing the firm’s presence on the internet.
Having the right systems in place has enabled Mikaela to effectively manage the essential operations of the firm like resource and case management so that the clients of the firm can receive superior service.
Mikaela knows the Cerritos area very well given she was raised in the city and went to schools in the ABC district. Currently, she lives in the South Bay with her husband, two children, and two dogs. She enjoys watching documentaries that keep her informed of current events and hot button social and political issues. Mikaela is driven by an intrinsic curiosity that usually results in challenging the status quo and aligning herself with the underdog. She credits her extensive travel to places like Kenya, Peru, Indonesia, New Zealand for defining her pursuits in life.
